Weather Synopsis for Friday night through Thursday
Cold, dry and mainly clear conditions will continue through the first half of Saturday as the Pacific Northwest remains sandwiched between upper level high pressure over northern British Columbia and a deep upper trough centered in the inland NW.
Beginning Saturday afternoon, a frontal system riding along the southern track of the jet stream will push into northern California, spreading increasing high cloud cover into the Mt. Hood area and potentially the south Washington Cascades. Offshore easterly winds will also increase late in the day Saturday and Saturday night.
Areas of light snow will traverse from south to north over the area beginning late Saturday night and continuing through the day Sunday. As the precipitation shield pushes furhter north it will weaken as the parent low remains stationary off the Oregon coast. Snow levels will remain low through Sunday as the easterly flow continues to draw colder air over from the east side of the state.

Extended Weather Synopsis for Thursday night through Thursday
Leftover light showers should quickly peter out Sunday night with dry conditions expected Monday. NW flow aloft will begin to take over on Monday but the next weather system will be well upstream of our area. Milder air will move over the region and freezing levels should rise for all areas.
Dry weather will likely stick around for much of Tuesday as a frontal system approaches from the NW, with forecast models differing if precipitation reaches the Olympics and north Cascades late Tuesday afternoon or Tuesday night.
