Weather Synopsis for Thursday & Saturday

A California upper low will pass to our south today and in the process, spread mid and high cloud over much the region in SE flow aloft.  Areas from Stevens Pass and north to the Canadian border should see more sunshine and slightly warmer freezing levels. Mt. Hood will see the most cloud cover with slightly lower freezing levels closer to the cold upper low.

Variable cloudiness will continue overnight as the upper low passes into the Great Basin with little change in the mild freezing levels. On Friday, a N-S frontal band extending from a negatively tilted trough will approach the Pacific coast. Light rain will reach the Olympics mid-day, with pre-frontal showers beginning to develop over the Washington Cascades and Mt. Hood in the afternoon. Cloud cover will increase with ceilings lowering in the afternoon. Freezing/snow levels will still be quite mild but will continue their slow downward trend.
