Weather Synopsis for Saturday & Thursday

A very weak disturbance will develop this afternoon in the near-shore waters enhance light snow or snow showers on the back side of a broad upper-level trough which sits over the western US with a ridge extending up to Alaska parked 1000 miles offshore. Light snow already associated with the trough is being pushed into northern Oregon this morning and will spread northward in the afternoon and evening hours as the weak disturbance approaches the Washington Coast.

The weak disturbance will drop south overnight off the coast of Oregon, cutting off moisture from north to south as a dry northerly flow develops and skies partially clear. Fraser River outflow will increase allowing moderate winds to bring cooler air to move into the northern Puget Sound lowlands. This pattern will continue through Sunday morning. Expect a partly cloudy day on Sunday in many areas with some light flurries developing in the afternoon.
