Weather Synopsis for Friday night through Friday

An upper low off the Oregon coast will weaken and drift inland tonight. Showers rotating up from the SW will decrease in coverage and intensity overnight with a partial clearing trend expected for the Washington Cascades.

With the jet stream well to our south and the entire Mountain West in one giant upper level trough, we will be left with weak flow aloft and another round of scattered showers partly driven by daytime heating. For areas that do see sunshine in the morning, skies should begin to fill back in as clouds and afternoon showers build.

Showers and clouds will wane Saturday night.  High pressure over the interior of British Columbia and lower pressure off the US West coast will draw down a reinforcing shot of cold interior air Saturday night and Sunday. However, Fraser outflow will be much more muted than last week. A few light mountain showers may bubble up Sunday afternoon along with an increase in cumulus clouds.

Extended Weather Synopsis for Friday night through Friday

Upper level ridging upstream of the Pacific Northwest will quickly slide over the region Sunday night and Monday. Fair, cool and dry weather can be expected.  The pattern shifts to a more active one beginning Tuesday. Significant timing differences exist between weather models but light snow should develop at some point on Tuesday as a developing low pressure system races towards us in NW flow aloft.
