Recreational Observation

Boulderfield, Boulderfield Trees, and East Gully.

Jan. 13, 2020, 3:30 p.m. PST

Weather: S- to S1 with some sun breaks throughout the day. Cold temps staying pretty consistent at 17-18 degrees F throughout the day. Light winds.

Snowpack: Another 40cm-50cm plus of snow fell since I was in the same zone yesterday -- filling in a lot of the old crown lines and obscuring all signs of our previous skin track. Cold. Smoke. Blower. Where yesterday we were getting easy hand shears, shooting cracks, and remote triggering steeper connected terrain, today saw none of the obvious signs of instability.

Area Description: Baker Backcountry -- False Herman.

Avalanches: Lots of loose dry in steep over 50 degree terrain -- especially during sun breaks. Triggered a few small pockets of storm slab on small, steep isolated rolls that got to over 45 degrees.
