Weather Synopsis for Wednesday night through Tuesday

"Hot and dry" pretty much sums up the forecast for Thursday. A high-pressure ridge in the eastern Pacific continues to drive our current weather pattern and bring us lots of sunshine and very warm temperatures. As of noon on Wednesday, many of the mountain weather stations reached well into the mid-50s and a few were even flirting with 60 degrees! Overnight, expect clear skies, light winds, and temperature inversions to set-up again in the mountain valleys and passes. Some locations could get downright chilly and near the freezing mark, while higher elevations slopes stay mild. After a nippy start to the morning, temperatures will soar and cause Thursday to be the hottest day of this stretch. Most areas will see sunny skies, light winds, and hot daytime high temperatures.

Thursday night looks like another mild, clear, and calm evening where valley temperature inversions become the primary story. A few locations close to the Canadian border could see high thin clouds and cooler air drifting in ahead of a weak storm system.

Our weather pattern changes slightly on Friday as a weak disturbance tries to impact the Pacific Northwest. As the storm approaches, the high-pressure ridge bends but doesn't break, keeping most of the moisture to our north and east. On Friday, look for increasing clouds, cooler temperatures, and stronger winds. This weak storm hangs with us as we enter the weekend.

Extended Weather Synopsis for Tuesday night through Tuesday

The weak weather disturbance that began to impact the region on Friday with clouds and cooler temperatures becomes the focal point of the long-term forecast. A few weather models show very light showers in the mountains Friday night and Saturday. This doesn't look to be much of a snow producer, and the same high-pressure ridge, driving our weather all week, seems to keep most of the moisture out of our region. As the system drifts further east, a rebounding ridge should help us return to mostly clear and dry conditions Sunday.
