Weather Synopsis for Saturday night through Friday

After a dry Saturday around most of the forecast area, scattered showers return to the mountains overnight. Look for precipitation to start near Mt Hood and the southern Washington Cascades before spreading further north during the day Sunday. As moisture wraps around the low-pressure off the Oregon coast, it will approach the mountains from the southeast. This could create increased shower activity for locations east of the Cascades like the Wenatchee Mountains. This weather system doesn't look particularly impressive and most locations will be lucky to pick up a few inches of snow.

The low-pressure system eventually meanders its way down the Pacific coast Sunday night, putting an end to a week of unseasonable cold and showery weather. In its place, a high-pressure ridge begins to build offshore. This weather feature will keep us warm and dry as we head into Monday. Expect clouds to still linger around the mountains Monday morning. As temperatures begin to warm, you should see most of these dissipate and usher in more sunshine by Monday afternoon,

Extended Weather Synopsis for Friday night through Friday

Conditions look high and dry as we move through next week. A high-pressure ridge in the eastern Pacific becomes the dominant force in our weather, deflecting approaching storms to the north. Expect cool clear nights and warm sunny days throughout the extended forecast. A pulse of noticeably warmer air appears to seep into the region on Wednesday. This could bring the highest freezing levels the mountains have experienced in several weeks.
