Weather Synopsis for Tuesday night through Thursday

The Pacific Northwest is experiencing seasonal or slightly above normal temperatures through Wednesday. A relatively weak front approaches from the west Tuesday night bringing increasing light rain and snow with some spillover into the central parts of the east slopes. The front crosses the Cascades during the morning hours, leaving light post-frontal rain and snow, which decreases and ends during the morning hours south of I-90 and by the end of the day further north.

A significant and rapid warming trend is expected to begin Wednesday night ahead of a warm, stalling frontal system bringing moisture into British Columbia. Expect fair weather with clear skies initially, giving way to high clouds which should lower and thicken with light rain arriving by morning over the Olympic Mountains.

The slow-moving frontal system is expected to bring moisture into the region in earnest on Thursday. Rain should spread into the Mt. Baker area during the morning and increase throughout the day, becoming heavy. Snow levels should be very high: 8000-8500 ft. Expect upwards of an inch of water on the moist SW flow along with increasing moderate winds. South of the mountain loop, expect primarily lowering and thickening clouds.
