Weather Synopsis for Tuesday night through Thursday

Cool NW flow aloft is carrying an upper trough and developing surface low-pressure system from off the southern B.C. coast towards the forecast area Tuesday afternoon. Precipitation is beginning to fill in across the region Tuesday afternoon and should increase through the evening and early Tuesday night.

Freezing levels slightly rise through Tuesday evening, but remain relatively low and will lower again overnight and Wednesday. The peak precipitation associated with this storm will be centered around early Tuesday night, turning to showers overnight.

The mid-level flow becomes more northwesterly Tuesday night behind the front, favoring the formation of a convergence zone in the central WA Cascades. Expect areas near Stevens to Snoqualmie passes to see heavier showers in convergence overnight.

Showers diminish quickly through the day Wednesday as high pressure rebuilds across the eastern North Pacific and the disturbance exits to the southeast.

The dominant upper ridge of high pressure in the eastern North Pacific will nudge inland Thursday. This will maintain dry weather with very cool northerly flow aloft.

Extended Weather Synopsis for Thursday night through Saturday

The ridge weakens over the area Thursday night as another developing disturbance forms off the B.C. coast. This system will move across the region Friday in cool NW flow aloft to cause increasing light to moderate precipitation at low snow levels.

A cool upper trough over the region will maintain a showery pattern over the forecast area Saturday with showers being enhanced by another embedded low-pressure system.
