Weather Synopsis for Saturday night through Thursday
A broad trough sits over much of the the U.S. with a closed, vertically stacked low spinning over eastern Washington on Saturday afternoon bringing clouds and periodic rain/snow showers to the region.
The low will exit to the south and east Saturday night, bringing a drying trend Saturday night through the day on Sunday with instability rain and snow showers becoming less frequent and ending. Saturday night into Sunday, 1-2" of snow are possible in some locations from the central Washington Cascades southward.
The cool air mass will remain in place through Monday as the western portion of the broad trough remains over the region.
Easterly winds will begin to increase through the passes beginning Sunday evening as a narrow ridge approaches the region from the west.

Extended Weather Synopsis for Thursday night through Thursday
Monday night through Wednesday, split flow will enable a cutoff low pressure system to work its way to the southern California coastal waters while a northern branch of the storm track remains well to our north.
Over our region, expect generally fair skies. Northerly flow aloft will allow some of the coldest air of the season to move into our region, particularly east of the Cascade Crest.
An east-west temperature and pressure gradient will increase and will drive moderate to locally strong winds Tuesday and Wednesday through the Cascade passes.
