Weather Synopsis for Friday night through Thursday
Weak upper level troughing over the area and onshore flow are producing scattered showers and mostly cloudy skies over the region this afternoon. A stacked low pressure system off the Washington/Oregon coastline will rotate a frontal boundary through the Cascades overnight, bringing a few hours of light and steady precipitation as it passes inland.
The upper low will meander further inland on Saturday, keeping clouds and light showers in the forecast. Snow levels will gradually lower through the weekend. Mt. Hood will likely pick up the most snow through Saturday afternoon.
The Pacific Northwest will be on the backside of a broad longwave upper level trough covering most of the country Sunday. General instability overhead will allow some clouds and isolated showers to stick around, but more in the way of sunshine is expected the latter half of the weekend.

Extended Weather Synopsis for Thursday night through Thursday
Split flow offshore will keep a slow moving low pressure system well south of us as it impacts California. The Pacific Northwest will remain high and dry through most of next week. However, surface high pressure creeping south from British Columbia will push in some of the coldest air of the season beginning early next week. Offshore flow will also ramp up during the week, with easterly winds increasing.
