Weather Synopsis for Thursday night through Sunday

A NW flow pattern continues to bring weak disturbances with light snow shower activity and cooler than average temperatures to our region through Friday night.

Thursday's weak disturbance moves east of our region Thursday night, with scattered light snow shower activity near and west of the Cascade Crest gradually shifting northward as another disturbance approaches from the NW, arriving on Friday. Winds should increase into the light to moderate range late Thursday night and Friday, resulting in increasing periods of more sustained light snowfall and weak convergence bands. The strongest winds should occur E of the Cascade Crest as the winds accelerate downslope.
Friday's disturbance moves east of the area Friday night, ending lingering snow shower activity Friday evening as weak ridging moves into the region with partially clearing skies Friday night. On Saturday morning, expect partly cloudy and slightly warmer conditions. Models are in agreement that some light snow and cloud cover should spin up from a stationary low over California, impacting Mt. Hood and possibly the southern Washington Cascades. Another low spins southward offshore, but shouldn't impact the region.
