Weather Synopsis for Thursday night through Thursday
An upper low passing to our south overnight will continue spreading a variable amount of high clouds over the region. High clouds should thin Friday morning and we should once again see at least partly sunny skies and continued warmth for the first half of Friday. A N-S oriented frontal band extending from a negatively tilted trough will approach the Pacific coast during the day, spreading light precipitation inland for the Olympics and Mt. Hood in the afternoon. Scattered pre-frontal showers may develop over the west slopes of the Cascades by late afternoon. All areas will see an increase in afternoon cloud cover.
The frontal band will weaken as it lifts through Friday night and post-frontal showers do not look impressive, with only moderate precipitation expected in the Mt. Baker area. Snow levels will lower dramatically behind the front through Saturday morning and we will see widespread below freezing temperatures for the first time in nearly a week (wow!).
A weak upper level trough and onshore flow will keep light and scattered mountain showers in the forecast for the afternoon on Saturday with snow levels in the 4000-4500 ft range. The east slopes of the Cascades should see more sun and less shower activity versus the west slopes.

Extended Weather Synopsis for Thursday night through Thursday
The same upper level trough will be slow to exit on Sunday. Atmospheric conditions look marginally unstable so once again, isolated mountain showers are possible in the afternoon. Weak upper level ridging will move across the area Sunday night. An upper low positioned well off the West Coast should lift a frontal band up from the south on Monday. Areas favored by southerly flow may see a period of moderate precipitation Monday or Monday night.
