Snoqualmie Pass

Jan. 7, 2018, 10 a.m. PST

Weather: Slightly below freezing. Lots of wind at the pass. On/Off precipitation. Did notice some surface hoar and hoar gathered on some icicles that were protected from wind.

Snowpack: Layer beneath the rain crust was very solid. A good amount of wind blowing from the south over the pass led to some slight wind loading. There was enough to make the area fun to ski. About 2-3 inches in most places with slightly deeper isolated drifts.

Area Description: Pineapple Pass - Alpental Backcountry

Avalanches: Saw the results of an older avalanche about 200 yards NW and below the pass. Hard to say how old it is, but it was covered in today's dusting.
