Recreational Observation

Tour from Maggie's along sunrise ridge. Skied bowling alley, Super bowl Trees, west ridge of Mt Angeles. Exit at mile 15 / silver fir.

Dec. 22, 2017, 2:20 p.m. PST

Weather: Rising marine layer through the day. Visibility limited to 1/4 mile. Light riming conditions thru the day.

Snowpack: 70-85 cm new. Dense but unconsoldated. Boot pen 61cm, ski pen 37cm. shovel tilt test and ski test produced only very stubborn results for storm slab. S-SW faces have a 1cm sun crust and a denser layer of snow ( 4f) above fist density snow. Two CT tests on N and W faces produced no results other than breaks from compression.

Area Description: Hurricane ridge to the west along sunrise ridge. Below treeline to near treeline.

Avalanches: No natural or skier triggered avalanches observed. A older natural crown, perhaps from the storm cycle is visible above the Maggie's parking area.
