Sno-Park to weather station via Worm Flows

May 13, 2017, 11 a.m. PST

Weather: Overcast; heavy wet snow. Generally light winds from the SW, gusting to approximately 20 mph; stead at 10-15 kts above 5000'.

Snowpack: 3-4" of heavy wet snow observed overnight at the snow park; approximately 8" observed at higher elevations (approx. 6000').

Area Description: Mt. St. Helens

Avalanches: Roller balls & pinwheels observed during climb with minimal solar exposure; small, naturally triggered, wet slab avalanches observed in roller-ball locations during decent. Cornices noted on east facing ridges, wind-loading present on west side of gullies; commensurate with prevailing winds.
