Recreational Observation

Skinned looker's right of the patrol cable trams above chair four.

March 24, 2017, 6 p.m. PST

Weather: Windy, mixed clouds, sun, rime. Cold on the ridge, spring at 4200'.

Snowpack: Poor bond between new snow (~12" wind impacted) and rain crust (21-22 MAR). New slab would fail and propagate upon isolating skin track on switchback.

Area Description: Bowl above chair four outside Mission Ridge boundary.

Avalanches: Booted up the ridge safely and then descended to ski cut on a ~40 degree rollover. Cut triggered a serious but manageable R2 D2 on the rain crust. Ran 50+ meters and was 60 m wide.
