Recreational Observation

Skied North facing trees from ridge-top to 5,300 to 4,600 for several laps.

March 3, 2017, 7 p.m. PST

Weather: Light to moderate snow all day, overcast skies, light winds from the West. Temps hovered just below freezing.

Snowpack: Storm snow from the last week is between 40-80cm deep depending on elevation. It has consolidated into a warm, thick slab and is bonding to the last rain crust. PST and ETC showed no results on that layer. Pinwheels on steep terrain and tree-bombs were the main hazards below treeline on 30 degree slopes. Ski quality is good, but snow is heavy.

Area Description: Yodelin.

Avalanches: None observed.
