Skied Poster Bowl via standard route, opting for western alt. route at head of valley

Feb. 24, 2017, 11 a.m. PST

Weather: Broken clouds, mid-low 20's, <5mph winds, no precip.

Snowpack: 30cm medium density powder, well bonded to underlying firmer snow. Cornice collapse did not produce slab avalanche.

Area Description: Hairpin Valley

Avalanches: (see attached image) A large cornice failure at 7600ft impacted slope below (NW aspect, very steep), failing to produce a slab avalanche. Significant loose-dry entrainment travelled to the valley bottom, crossing a popular skintrack at 6300ft. This event occurred after 3pm 2/23.
