Recreational Observation

Obstruction Point road, winter TH to 0.5 mile past Waterhole Camp

Feb. 18, 2017, 8:10 p.m. PST

Weather: Cloudy all day, wet snow showers off an on. Temp about 35 all day. No wind.

Snowpack: 1-2 cm of new wet snow on top of the rain crust from the previous week

Area Description: Hurricane Ridge area

Avalanches: Debris from a decent-sized loose wet slide encountered on the WSW slope of Steeple Rock. Release point not identifiable, but somewhere above the road/route and just below Steeple Rock. Track and debris crossed the road/route. New snow on the debris, so I'd guess it happened Wednesday or Thursday.
