Snoqualmie Pass

Feb. 8, 2017, 4 p.m. PST

Weather: S1 most of the day increasing rapidly to probably S3-4 at 3 pm. Light winds up higher

Snowpack: Deep powder skiing

Area Description: Big Trees area below Great Scott bowl

Avalanches: Noticed a large avalanche (3-4' crown) that released to ice crust, likely on Monday. The at least 200' wide crown was evident above cliffs lookers left of and extended above the Hummocks/Chutes and Ladders run in the Alpental BC. These slides seem to indicate the potential for deep wet slabs with the rain today. With the rapid snowfall in the afternoon, fresh 1-4" storm slabs became reactive.
