Recreational Observation

Skinned up the road to Skyline Lake and skied NE Bowl. Ascended to the ridgetop and skied East facing glades to the PCT.

Jan. 29, 2017, 7 p.m. PST

Weather: Inversion in am with East flow. After clearing this was very evident from snow on trees. Cooling trend with increased clouds and light winds shifting from East to West around 10am and becoming moderate in speed.

Snowpack: Rightside up in the top meter. The 1/17 crust is thick and had some rounding facets above, but was well bonded with the snow above. Pits showed resistant fracture character and no propagation. Ski quality in the shade was good.

Area Description: Skyline Ridge

Avalanches: Steep solars had small wet loose avalanches, likely from yesterday.
