Weather: Snowing lightly; gusty; warming trend
Snowpack: Deeply sheltered timber skiing was decent Sunday 1/8/17 compared to the alpine we attempted to ski the past 2 days. Two pits, no result -- at 5200 ft, 2 CT and 2 ECT, 1 N and 1 S aspect, 3 recreational testers. <P> Campers reported brief freezing rain Sunday morning, it formed a thin crust that was quickly covered by new falling and blowing snow. (Redistribution around Paradise has been significant all week.)
Area Description: Paradise (Mt Rainier Nordic Patrol)
Avalanches: Slopes 30-40 degrees remained stable underfoot.
