Recreational Observation

Skinned up the road to Skyline Lake, dropped to the North, then moved up and East to Moonlight Basin.

Jan. 8, 2017, 6 p.m. PST

Weather: Sky: Overcast. Wind: Moderate to Strong fro East. Temps: -11c low, -9c high. Precip: S-1 increasing to S1 in the afternoon.

Snowpack: Rightside up above the 12/20 IFrc (down 70cm) from P to F @ 4900' East aspect. ETC did not propagate. CTH BRK down 25 cm. Windloading at ridgetops on from East winds was obvious. Ski tests on 35 degree E and N slopes showed no sign of instability. Hand pits at 4600' SE aspects showed windslabs that were poorly bonding to snow below.
