Recreational Observation

Alpental to Denny creek then runs around Low Mountain followed by an exit over the Byrant col. Skipped BPC and skied into great scott bowl.

Jan. 5, 2017, 10 a.m. PST

Weather: Sunny and cold. Calm to light breeze.

Snowpack: Extremely wind effected in the mid to high alpine. Best skiing is found down low near the valley floor. We found two fantastic powder runs. One on an SW aspect in the Denny Creek Valley. The other NW Aspect off Low Mountain. The climb up the Bryant Peak Col was extremely wind effected. The ski down the Alpental backcountry was equally wind scoured. No signs of slides that day and despite the wind layer on top everything felt pretty solid.
