Recreational Observation

Skied up Chair Peak from Source Lake and then down the North side. Up Mt Roosevelt and down the WSW couloir (Holy Diver).

Weather: Clear/ Sunny

Snowpack: 2 pit tests on north aspect yielded a stable feeling snowpack. Our only concern being recently transported snow from the last storm cycle over the last two days.

Area Description: West Northwest facing couloir on Mt Roosevelt accessed from the Alpental valley via Snow Lake.

Avalanches: 60-70ft crown, 10-20inches in depth. Two people had already skiied down the entirety of the couloir. They claimed to have caused a 5-inch in depth slide upon entry. I was the only one on the slope, two turns in the snow around me broke. Fortunately I was near the initiation zone and was able to self arrest but not without being carried ~50-60ft.
