Recreational Observation

Skied out the ridge from the ski area and observed dry-loose d1 avalanches in highlands bowl. Skied back to the highway to the west. Ski tests showed no signs of instability on 30 degree anchored slopes

Weather: sunny and clear with increasing clouds in the pm.

Snowpack: Highlands bowl was windloaded with a 1f slab over a crust (about 10cm deep), which lies over weaker snow. Handshears failed easily and cleanly below the isolated crust.

Area Description: Highlands Bowl-Wenatchee Bowl

Avalanches: Small d1 dry loose in HIghlands Bowl.
