Pineapple Basin ski tour, north to northeast aspects from 3240' to 5200'.

Dec. 16, 2016, 1 p.m. PST

Weather: Clear to partly cloudy, calm winds, 10 degrees F.

Snowpack: Powder snow from parking at 3240' to bench at 4450'. Firm, wind and / or sun-crusted snow with 5 inches of powder on top throughout Pineapple Basin from 4500' to 5200'.

Area Description: Alpental Valley backcountry.

Avalanches: No avalanche signs - no whoomping, shooting cracks, settling, or debris noted, even below steep couloirs north of the Tooth. However, extensive hoar frost was noted throughout Pineapple Basin.
