Stevens Pass

Weather: Mostly sunny, E winds 10-20mph, air temp around 5 degrees F.

Snowpack: HS 120-140cm at 6400', NE aspect. Surface form was 2-3 mm PPsd, and some SH (widespread SH between 3,000 and 5,000'). Top 20cm was F hard PP/DF, next 20cm was 4F DF's, and rest of pit was 1F sintering DF and rounds. There was no PWL observed. CTM BRK (x2) @ 25-30 cm's down.

Area Description: East Bowl of Rock Mountain

Avalanches: Observed old (24-48 hour) shallow (10-20cm) wind slab crowns, D1's. Rapidly building, shallow, sensitive wind slab in lee areas. Many loose dry D1's in steep terrain.
