Recreational Observation

Took the sucker route to the top. and traversed around the east/south side.

Dec. 8, 2016, 2 p.m. PST

Weather: Broken skies, clear on the hill and cold. Winds were strong easterly.

Snowpack: Ski cuts at 5200' and above showed widespread windloading into slabs on westerly slopes. Clean shear on 5-10" slabs when isolated in pits on 35 degree southwesterly slopes. Skied today in compacted terrain, but indicative of heavy wind loading above and around treeline. One plus side is the rime and wind look to have jacked up any surface hoar that might have formed during the recent cold and clear nights.

Area Description: Skyline ridge social trail to the peak of the knob.

Avalanches: None observed.
