Recreational Observation

summer trail route

Nov. 26, 2016, 11 a.m. PST

Weather: Cloudy, some snow showers, fairly warm

Snowpack: 1cm thick ice crust on top of the snow, then unconsolidated snow under that for about 2-3'. Was busy setting route marker poles so did not have time to look at the new snow falling on the ice crust. When breaking trail in snowshoes I would break through the ice crust and sink into the unconsolidated snow underneath.
