East Slopes Central - Lake Chelan to South of I-90

March 1, 2016, noon PST

Weather: Snowing, occasionally snow pellets, on the way up, low overcast, SW winds estimated 25-35 mph , higher on exposed ridges.

Snowpack: Traveled from 4500 to 6800, snow in all but the most protected areas was wind affected. Temperatures warmed throughout the day, freezing level seemed to be around 5000. Snow depth around 18 cm , hand shear tests showed fair bonding of the new snow, but some tendency to shear at the boundary of the wind affected layer. On the decent encountered hard rain around 5000.
