West Slopes North - Canadian Border to Skagit River

Area Description: Wet, heavy, consolidated snow existed on all aspects along Artist Point ridge today. Ski cuts on steep test slopes triggered loose wet snow sluffs at all elevations. Small cornice pieces dropped onto steep test slopes would trigger sluffs and large pinwheels. Some pinwheels picked up snow from below the wet surface layers and grew to 2-3 ft in diameter. Ski run triggered avalanche on slope of ~35 degrees with a large volume of snow cascading behind and parallell to skiier
