Weather: Partly cloudy, 30 degree temps, no wind

Snowpack: Conducted hand shear on the go; Crust forming on lee slope, weakness about 9 inches down; lots of melting in morning below treeline creating falling ice, snow, and precipitation

Area Description: Above treeline approx. 4600 ft., southwest slope near top of Mailbox peak.
