Recreational Observation

Off hwy 20 east side NC

Jan. 10, 2019, 3:30 p.m. PST

Weather: Mixed cloud, sun, low fog Zero to light breeze at top

Snowpack: 6" to 8" new, wind packed at ridge

Area Description: Powder Cauche

Avalanches: Saw two fresh surface sluffs in the lower "scared larch grove". one appeared to come off fall line Ridge loaded area that separates the "bride" from the "powder cauche" and occurred skiers left of the previous Avalanche i reported. I have to say the larger of the two surface Sloughs ran a bit under 300 vertical feet in this 35 degree slope and ran through some trees with some piles on the uphill side of the trees so it could have been harmful but I'm not going to give it a D2. Maybe a D1.685527. CT5 new snow. Q2 shear at lower crust, moderate. Ski cut 40 degree roll near top ridge, no results. Watch out for those Montana Trail poachers. :) although they are carrying good beer and peanuts. Fun CH
