Recreational Observation

We skinned up the road to its end and climbed the ridge to the east of the Kendall lakes. We skied the south side of the ridge dropping into the Gold Creek basin. From the bottom of the line we skinned through the valley back to our car.

Weather: Sunny, but warming as the day went on

Snowpack: 5 inches on top of a breakable crust. Skiing down was classic cascade concrete. We started to see pinwheels and by time we got to the bottom snow was falling off the trees.

Area Description: We we’re skiing up the Kendall Lakes area. We parked at the Hyak snow park area.

Avalanches: We triggered several small wet slides. The slides were only triggerd on slopes above 35 degrees and did not propogate. The picture is right before that slope slid away, running down to the grouping of trees.
