Recreational Observation

Summer trail

Dec. 29, 2018, 3 p.m. PST

Weather: High wind snow rain mix

Snowpack: Rain crust covered with new snow, blowing so hard it made travel hard at times. I did not investigate the snow pack, crust was variable breakable to supportable. The data logger tells the tale, high wind, warming into the mid 30ies. A pit yesterday suggested the Mission snow pack was gaining some strength, but the buried facets were still there, the upper layers were just more durable.
