Recreational Observation

Hiked up the south west aspect of West Goat Mountain. Skied SW face return to car.

Jan. 8, 2015, 1 p.m. PST

Weather: Sky: Scattered clouds Precipitation: NO Wind: Calm to light from the East. Temperature: 4.5 C at 4000', 7 C at 6725'

Snowpack: HS at 4000' about 40CM soft wet snow. Supportable crust formed at about 5000' with a 2-5cm soft sun warmed surface.

Area Description: Mt Baker Backcountry/Goat Mountain

Avalanches: D2.5 wet slab on southwest aspect starting at approx 6500' running to about 5000' probably form rain earlier in the week. No active avalanching observed during tour.
