Mt Hood

Weather: Calm wind, unrestricted visibility, high overcast (>12,000ft), 26F.

Snowpack: This ESE, 35deg test slope was wind loaded and reacted to ski cut. Formal test resulted in ETCP13 down 40cm with clean shear (whole block moved out a couple of inches). The weak layer was some F hardness snow from a few days ago. The overlying slab varied from 1F to 4F.

Area Description: Mt Hood, Timberline lodge area, ESE 35deg wind loaded test slope.

Avalanches: None observed up to 10,000ft on Mt Hood south climb route. Didn't see evidence of avalanches on summit slopes. Above 8,000ft, snow surface was covered with small rime ice.
