Skinned up Northern ridge of Wedge, avalanche was triggered just off the ridge crest on the steeper NW face as we skied back down the ridge.

Jan. 18, 2016, 2 p.m. PST

Weather: Above inversion cloud layer, temps near or just above freezing.

Snowpack: Quick pit on lower elevation NE aspect did not reveal sensitive storm slab layer.

Area Description: Wedge Mountain, NW aspect, near 4,500ft.

Avalanches: 18-24" crown, recent storm slab. Skier triggered, 1 skier caught and carried about 100', not injured. Slid on denser snow layer, did not step down to deeper crust layer.
