Recreational Observation

Area known as Widow Trees. Used snowmobiles for access.

Jan. 13, 2016, 2:30 p.m. PST

Weather: 30 degrees, cloudy, snowing, 15mph west wind, variable visability.

Snowpack: 8-10 inches of new, somewhat heavy, still good snow for riding. Windloaded area had 12-20 inches of perfect wind loaded slab. Bed surface was penetrable with sugar like hoar frost. Avalanche moved quickly.

Area Description: NW Aspect at 5600ft. 40 degree terrain. Crown in a windloaded pocket under a cliff band. Rider had enough momentum to make it to the flank of the slide path.

Avalanches: No recent activity noted other than the one triggered.
