Jan. 13, 2016, 7:45 a.m. PST

Weather: Overcast skys, light SW winds. At 0745, 5160' Ta:0?C, Tsurf:-2?C,T20:-2.5?C. Precip varied through the morning with sleet, freezing rain and fluffy snow. No blowing snow observed.

Snowpack: New 17cm from last night. 1/3 SH was down ~20-25cm. In hand and ski tests new snow would shear off cleanly with no propagation. Shear plane appeared to be above 1/3 SH. On a NE slope, 13?, 5160', found 12/16 SH down 55cm. Looked about 6mm here, continuing to round. In hand and shovel tests this felt resistant to shear but had a ECTP23 on this layer. PenFoot:50cm, PenSki:20cm, Surf F/E: PP 1-2mm.

Area Description: Blewett Pass, 1.5 miles east of pass.
