Recreational Observation

Saddle Bowl. NWAC trip to work on Chinook Pass weather station.

Dec. 30, 2014, 2 p.m. PST

Weather: Clear, cool, light winds.

Snowpack: Recent snow mainly right side up and good skiing. No signs of instability. Local wind affected/blown snow on ridge above Saddle Bowl but not enough for slab layers and weak layers lacking. We figured moderate avalanche danger near and below treeline.

Area Description: Chinook Pass

Avalanches: One previous SS crown on very steep rocky east facing cliffs of Yakima Peak.
