Recreational Observation

SW Aspect. ~4600 ft. Steep, convex micro-features throughout terrain.

Dec. 24, 2015, 11 a.m. PST

Weather: On and off snow showers. Snow was heavy at times.

Snowpack: Lots of unconsolidated fresh snow. Ski penetration was ~40 - 50 cm. Moderate hand shears ~50 cm down. Easy tilt test failure about 6" down. Bottomless Skiing / Face Shots!

Area Description: Baker Backcountry - Herman Trees (AKA Enchanted Forest)

Avalanches: Shared Herman Trees with some other Baker BC regulars who did us the favor of testing a number of slopes. Several "ski test" results yielded 6" storm slabs that propagated respectable distances. Debris flows would trigger the next convexity/slope below. Interesting domino effect.
