Dropped cornices from the top and ski cut steep northerly slope above windy knob.

March 3, 2018, 9:30 a.m. PST

Weather: Clear and sunny to broken sky, -3 to +3 C, Tr new snow, light and variable winds.

Snowpack: HS 160cm on the north bench of windy knob @5700', less where wind/sun affected. 2/13 and 2/23 buried facets were apparent, although not reactive. Small near surface facets failed ECTN22 18cm down (layer in photo with scraper). Took a hard shovel shear to propagate the column cleanly. A few mixed wind layers in snow since last weekend.

Area Description: Windy Knob North

Avalanches: Loose snow drained 38-degree slope after cornice falls; D1 sloughing. Nothing broke beyond mid-week storm snow and small wind slabs dating back to 2/25. 2/13 crust remained buried below bed surface.
