Recreational Observation

Climbed a south facing rib above Cutthroat Creek and traversed west into a large basin. We experienced significant settling along the route after reaching tree line. We reached the ridge top and traversed a south west aspect to reach lower angled larch glades.

Dec. 22, 2014, 1 p.m. PST

Weather: Partly sunny, light winds, temperature in upper 20's.

Snowpack: HS 205cm, CT1 Q2 @65cm. Failure on facets above a crust.

Area Description: North side of Cutthroat Creek on a south west aspect at 6800'

Avalanches: While traveling at ridge line on a southwest aspect at 6800' we triggered two separate avalanches below us on 35 degree slopes. SS AS R2 D2 on the same weak layer identified in the pit.
