Recreational Observation

Up through Timberline then over to Illumination Saddle

Nov. 21, 2015, 2 p.m. PST

Weather: Clear, warm to 40F, warming throughout the day

Snowpack: V. hard surface crust, with intermittent blue ice and frozen windblown snow. Became slightly punchy to boot penetration in the afternoon, but only in isolated locations. Below the top station of the Palmer, ungroomed snow was frozen, becoming almost corn-like and making for good skiing.

Area Description: Up through Timberline then over to Illumination Saddle

Avalanches: No activity observed. There is a glide crack which runs the width of the slope below illumination saddle, and there was significant and near-constant icefall as the day warmed around 1pm
