Up new chair, into lakes, up ridge line, through trees, conservative route selection with hazard avoidance approach due to heavy prec and warming.

Dec. 20, 2014, 3 p.m. PST

Weather: 36 raining (R5) in parking lot, mixed at 5K, heavy snow up to 6K. Wind SE avg 15, max 40. 32 w/ overcast at 6.5K with in/out prec (S5).

Snowpack: Complex. 4 layers in play: 10cm storm, 30cm previous, 60cm weekly. Faceting and temp variants down to 60cm. Snowpack 100cm

Area Description: Crystal Mt Resort, Silver Basin

Avalanches: whooping (collapsing 60cm facet layer) in places and cracks on slopes. Older naturals.
