traveled up the valley from the HWY 20 valley toward poster peak bowl / two ridgelines before kangaroo pass

Jan. 10, 2018, 1:32 p.m. PST

Weather: overcast with light snowfall. winds transporting snow, rated as M 17+ mph from the west. Temp approx 20F

Snowpack: Performed compression test with CTE6 @ 10cm Q2 and againCTM16 @35cm. Resistance changed from Fist to 1F @ 35cm, and continued at 1F through depth of pit. Pit depth dug 150CM below height of snow.

Area Description: Located in the hairpin just above treeline on an ENE facing slope.

Avalanches: Visible point release avalanches on varied slope angles & directions. Appeared to be depth of unconsolidated storm snow above 35cm. All point releases from visible rock faces or protruding rocks in the snow pack.
