Weather Synopsis for Wednesday night through Friday
A flat upper ridge of high pressure should keep fair weather and light winds in the forecast Wednesday night and Thursday. Upper-level moisture associated with a weak shortwave feature should bring some increasing high clouds into the region Wednesday night through Thursday night. These clouds should reduce the diurnal temperature range over the period. The very weak shortwave axis is expected to move through the region Thursday night and it may touch off very light amounts of light rain in the Washington Cascades.
Skies should clear out by Friday morning, with clouds and winds increasing ahead of a more significant disturbance sliding down the British Columbia coastline on Friday. Westerly winds should pick up into the moderate range by Friday morning, particularly in the Mt. Hood area and along the east slopes of the Cascades. Freezing levels should lower several thousand feet as the system approaches.

Extended Weather Synopsis for Friday night through Friday
Friday night and Saturday should feature markedly cooler conditions and a brief return to winter-like weather. The upper low sliding down the BC coastline will begin to impact northern Washington with increasing light rain and snow with lowering snow levels with moderate winds increasing in many areas. On Saturday, the broad upper trough should remain over the US-Canadian border region with stronger winds and heavier (but still generally light) precipitation aimed at the central and southern Washington Cascades. Snow may be possible at Snoqualmie pass level on Saturday morning, but this should not be a significant event. Expect very lighter snow shower activity over the North Cascades. On Saturday night and Sunday, the energy shifts further east with the trough weakening and afternoon rain and snow shower activity diminishing in the Cascades with temperatures moderating to near normal for this time of year.
